On Sunday, Brigid Kosgei crushed the sixteen-year-old world record at the Paula Radcliffe marathon. The 25-year-old Kenyan arrived in Chicago at a time of 2: 14.04.
Kosgei was almost one and a half minutes faster on the flat course in the United State than Radcliffe, who set her record of 2: 15.25 in 2003 in London. The British was in Chicago and congratulated her successor almost immediately after the finish.
The personal record of Kosgei was 2: 18.20. She won the London Marathon earlier this year. The Kenyan was also the best in Chicago last year, at a time of 2: 18.35.
The course record in the American city was in the name of Radcliffe (2: 17.18).
