Errol Spence, undefeated world welterweight champion, is hospitalized in serious condition after suffering a heavy traffic accident in Dallas early Thursday. The 29-year-old American was driving at high speed and without a seat belt shortly before three in the morning when he lost control of his Ferrari. According to police, his vehicle took several bell turns before invading the opposite lanes.
The doctors, despite the seriousness of the injuries, do not fear for the life of Spence, who shot out of the car before he stopped in one of the lanes contrary to the direction in which he was traveling. Police sources cited by Dallas KTVT television also confirmed that the boxer was driving alone.
On September 29, Spence kept his welter belt after defeating Shawn Porter in Los Angeles. Thus, the left-hander raised his record to 26 fights without defeat, 21 of them by KO.
