Vincent van der Voort was eliminated in the first round of the World Grand Prix on Monday. The Dutchman had no chance against the Englishman Nathan Aspinall.
Van der Voort lost in the opening round of the tournament in Dublin in two sets of the number thirteen of the world: 0-3 and 1-3.
In addition to Van der Voort, two Dutch players are coming into action on Monday with Jermaine Wattimena and Danny Noppert. Wattimena meets Englishman Adrian Lewis, Noppert throws against Northern Irishman Daryl Gurney.
On Sunday Michael van Gerwen and Jeffrey de Zwaan reached the second round. They meet in it. Van Gerwen is looking forward to his fifth overall win, after winning the tournament in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018.
Raymond van Barneveld did not qualify for the World Grand Prix and is not participating in the tournament for the first time since 2005.
The World Grand Prix differs from other tournaments because the darters must start and end each leg with a double.
