  • Analysis: Marquez, the champion who never changes anything

With 26 years Marc Márquez has made routine of rubbing shoulders with the legends. In the German Grand Prix he surpassed Giacomo Agostini as the driver who has been undefeated in the same circuit for more years in a row. There are already 10 wins and 10 straight poles in Sachsenring. The next, in the Czech Republic, he became the driver with more poles in the history of MotoGP, ahead of Mick Doohan (van 61), and reached Mike Hailwood in total victories (there are already 79 among all categories, with the last one in Thailand). The Catalan is already the only one capable of linking seven seasons in a row with at least five wins. But it still has pending challenges.

The 15 crowns of Agostini

Marc Márquez has already been world champion eight times: one in 125cc (2010), another in Moto2 (2012) and the last six in MotoGP (2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019). The 15 of Giacomo Agostini or 13 of Angel Nieto are still far away, but with 26 years you can at least allow yourself to contemplate the most unattainable top of the Motorcycle World Championship. On the way, the next course could match Valentino Rossi, Mike Hailwood and Carlo Ubbiali.

The Cervera is fourth with 79 and, with only 26 years (Rossi or Lorenzo kept their best pace until thirty), the 122 of Agostini do not seem so crazy.

Only this season has surpassed Jorge Lorenzo (47) and still has room to overcome Mick Doohan before the end of the course (54). The Catalan rider adds 14 podiums to date this season (91), has overtaken Agostini by the way (88), and the next campaign could exceed Doohan (95), Pedrosa (112) and Lorenzo (114) but still There are more than a hundred left to catch Rossi.
