The tributes multiply after the death of Eugène Saccomano, a great gentleman of French football. Gervais Martel, former president of Racing Club Lens, evokes an "exceptional" man Monday on Europe 1.

TESTIMONIAL EUROPE 1

Numerous are the personalities of the sports world marked the disappearance of Eugene Saccomano, Monday. The former president of Racing Club Lens tells the microphone of Europe 1, Monday, the relationship he had with "the voice of football".

"It was an extraordinary person, it's a part of my career that also leaves tonight with his death, I came to the Racing Club de Lens in 1986, I took the presidency in 1988. J I was immediately very comfortable with him during the first contacts, I had the impression that we had known each other for 20 years! He was an exceptional guy.

"He knew how to make sport and football vibrate"

With Europe 1, he lived moments of excellence. I remember, for the title of Lens, he called me saying 'Gervais, it'll do it this year, you'll be champions!' He was so much a guy though it was impossible to argue with Eugene, impossible. He knew how to make sport vibrate, football. We are not ready to find someone like that tomorrow morning, I wish but it is a very big loss.
