“Do all you can do” swimming Daiya Seto Oath to gold medal Oct. 4: 20:53

Daiya Seto who is aiming for a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics next year.
This summer, the World Championship held in Korea achieved two crowns in the medley event and was selected as the representative of the Tokyo Olympics. Looking ahead to next year's performance, we are prepared to “do everything we can”.

Seto won the bronze medal at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, the first Olympic Games. However, rival Kosuke Kanno of the same year won a gold medal and remained regrettable.

The goal of the Tokyo Olympics is a gold medal.
To that end, I have been working on new things, such as trying all things I can do, doing everything, and trying to get to the start of the Tokyo Olympics.

Unusual "once every two times"

An individual medley that requires the total power of four swims. Seto is the first swimming style, butterfly, and has used a rare style in the world as a weapon.

The point is “breathing”. Usually, every time you turn your arm, you breathe, but Seto is half of that. Once every two times. It is said that the posture with less water resistance can be maintained by reducing breathing.

Analyzing how much the resistance of water is reduced, the red part of the body has a large resistance. I found that the resistance was 22% less if the posture was not breathing. I polished my own swimming and crossed the world's powerhouses.

Overcoming weakness

The effort to further develop the butterfly we are good at is strengthening the “kick”. In fact, we have often pointed out the issue of weak kicks during races.

To that end, the abdominal muscles and trunk were consciously trained.
I spent more time on steady training, saying, “Let's crush things I don't like”.

July World Championship. Seto participated in a 200-meter butterfly prior to his personal medley. For the past two years, it was an event that I could not update my personal best.

Even so, “I was strengthening my legs by training and I was able to hit a good kick. It was connected to the second medley event crown after that.

Seto felt responsive to the kick he was not good at.
“I'll do it well for another year and I will definitely win if I can overcome the challenges,” he vowed to the Tokyo Olympic gold medal.
