It was in a facebook post yesterday that Johansson, who is one year younger than Roger Federer, told us that he received a wildcard for the Stockholm Open qualifier. This is after a training session against Mikael Ymer, who quickly spread in tennis circles.

- I won the first set after two breaks and then he won the second in the tiebreak with 14-12 and then we felt satisfied, says Johansson, who says that every year after he has received requests to put up in the rich tournament in the Royal Tennis Hall in Stockholm.

Shortly after the training meeting, Ymer won a tournament in France and rose to 83rd place on the world rankings, the highest ranking a Swedish has had since Robin Söderling's heyday.

- I have been running since then and am in better physical shape than I played in 2013, says tennis coach Johansson to SVT Sport.

Closes the door for a continuation

In fact, Johansson will be better prepared for this year's tournament than six years ago and is training according to a schedule to get the body strengthened and to keep it. Pim-Pim remembers how tired he became six years ago after a total of five matches, where he was knocked out by world player Milos Raonic in the second round of the main tournament.

- At the same time, I must be humbled that I have become six years older. I have been training hard for a 1.5 week and am already satisfied with a lot of the game, I have always kept going even though it was not match play. My big advantage is that I am extremely light-headed, which I have always been, and am strong mentally, ”says Johansson, emphasizing that it is a one-off thing to jump into the Stockholm Open.

- My comeback only applies to this competition. I take one day at a time now, says Pim-Pim Johansson.

Qualifying begins October 13 while the main tournament begins the day after.
