Most recently Joachim Johansson played a professional tennis match was in the Stockholm Open. After four straight wins, it finally stopped against Canadian Milos Raonic in straight sets.

That was six years ago.

In recent years he has trained the Swedish tennis talent Mirjam Björklund.

But now the hard-hitting 37-year-old is heading for a sensational comeback. On his Facebook page, "Pim-Pim" says that with the help of coaches Oliver Hildebrandt, Thomas Högstedt and Leif Johannson, he has trained to find the form again.

“It all started with a good workout with Mikael Ymer last week. I'm excited to see if I keep this level above - hopefully - a couple of matches, while I'm humbled about how my body will respond to a couple of matches and workouts under my belt. It was 14 years since I injured my shoulder, eight years since I stopped playing and six years since I got a wildcard to the Stockholm Open where I won four games before losing to Milos Raonic , ”Johansson writes on Facebook.

Next Tuesday he will start the prequel to the qualifying of the Stockholm Open in Salkhallen. If he moves on from there, qualification awaits the main tournament where players such as Grigor Dimitrov, Juan Martin Del Potro and Mikael Ymer will attend.
