The pictures of when the 26-year-old's rod breaks and when she lands in the metallic box under the bar are perhaps the most spectacular in Swedish athletics history. The crowd in the arena breathed and everyone wondered how things were going.

- It was nasty. You can get splits of the rod that cuts up the palm. It goes off very far down and it indicates that the rod was damaged earlier. You had the breath in your throat, says Alhaji Jeng.

But Bengtsson got up and got another chance because the stick was broken. Then followed several dramatic minutes where the Swedish, with the broadcast's camera team hacked in heels, panicked and ran around looking for his second stake. It turned out that French training buddy Ninon Guillon-Romarin stuffed it in his bag. Finally Bengtsson jumped and managed the Swedish record high 4.80.

- It's so impressive. I've seen a lot of Angelica and that was the best hope of her life. She ruthlessly attacks after the riot and in the margin over the bar you see her potential. It's a 4.90 jump, says Alhaji Jeng.

The Swede became sixth in the final.
