Frenchman Yohann Diniz broke the race before 25 kilometers were completed. Afterwards, a French press spokesman said that Diniz had broken due to the harsh conditions and that he had felt like a test animal, something that the pedestrian has also lifted before the competition.

Yohann Diniz's wife Céline Bré, who was standing at the finish line, said Diniz had not really wanted to go at all.

"When they measured the air for the race, I think it was closer to 90, so ... I saw in his eyes that he didn't want to do this," she says.

Afterwards, Diniz looked annoyed when he talked to French television in the mixed zone. And his image of the aisles being experimental animals was strengthened when he got to step on a wave, only wearing shorts, to see how much he lost weight during the race.

The results, along with other medical tests, are used by the organizer to investigate how the body manages the harsh conditions.

In the Tokyo Olympics next year, similar climate is likely to be expected.

The competition is ongoing.
