World Pole Vault Recorder Renaud Lavillenie was eliminated in the pole vault qualifiers on Saturday at the Doha World Cup in Qatar.
Renaud Lavillenie has failed to cross 5.70 m: this is the first time in his career that the 2012 Olympic champion fails to qualify for the final of a large outdoor championship.
A black season
After crossing the first stroke 5.60 m, Renaud Lavillenie, 33, has failed three times at the next bar. He will not be able to win in Doha the only title he misses his record: the Worlds outside.
The world record holder (6.16m) concludes a dark season: after having resumed only mid-June because of injuries, he had not done better than 5.85m at the French Championships in Saint-Etienne in July . This is the first time since 2008 that it does not pass at least 5,90 m.
