FIFA responded quickly to the inquiries of the Egyptian Football Association about why Egyptian votes for Egyptian star Mohamed Salah were not counted in voting for the best player, "The Best", in which Liverpool striker came in fourth place.

Viva said in a statement carried by various media that the signatures on the Egyptian ballot papers "were in capital letters, and therefore seemed invalid (not identical to official origin)."

Viva added that "the voting forms were not signed by the secretary general (of the Egyptian Federation) which is compulsory."

Fifa said Egypt had been contacted for the first time to confirm the ballot and then "the Egyptian Federation received two reminders to submit the correctly signed voting forms on August 19th."

The Egyptian star Mohamed Salah paid the price for the flops that took place in the Egyptian Football Association after the exit of the African Cup of Nations and the resignation of the Football Association.
