Actually, the two 16-team teams would have trained simultaneously on Tuesday night, on each football pitch at Bayern Munich's training facility in the northern part of the city.

But after a knockout victory in the Bundesliga this weekend, the Bayern Munich players got somewhat unexpected a day off for the Champions League return. However, the opponents from Gothenburg, who flew down to Munich at lunchtime, took the opportunity to feel the match arena for just over an hour.

- Yes, it's up to them. We train anyway, says Elin Rubensson.

The arena at the FC Bayern Campus, where the men's junior team and the women's team compete for playing time, has a maximum capacity of 2,500 spectators. Unlike the match in Gothenburg, which, despite heavy rainfall, drew close to 5,000 spectators, Bayern Munich counts with just under 1,000 people at the stand in return.

Inspiring venture

But it is still clear that it is a major club that the Gothenburg players have come to, says Elin Rubensson.

- Yes, you feel that directly when you scroll in here. It's fantastic and that's what's happening in Europe now, it's starting to invest in the clubs, ”she says.

- It's fun to come out and see, it's inspiring.

Gothenburg was just seconds away from a small scuffle in the home game two weeks ago, following Elin Rubensson's late 1-1 receipt on penalty. But in the closing seconds, Mandy Islacker ran through the penalty area and made 2-1, giving the big team a victory after all.

This means that Gothenburg has a tough task ahead of itself on Wednesday evening - but perhaps also avoids some of the press located at Bayern Munich.

"Clear plan"

The club reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season (loss to Barcelona) and the club leadership is expected to expect something similar this season as well.

But not if Elin Rubensson and her teammates are allowed to decide.

- We're loaded. I'm not going to leak the tactics here now, but we have a clear plan for how to set up the match, ”she says.

- We showed in the last match that we can stand up to a big team, that we are such a skilled football team. Given the regular match against them in Gothenburg, we know what we are getting into.
