Para bicycle Japan championship Sugiura updated Japan record in the second event and won the championship on September 23 1:41

Aiming for participation in the Tokyo Paralympic Games next year, a Japanese championship of a track that competed in Japan for cycling was held, and 48-year-old Yoshiko Sugiura won the Japanese record in two events and won.

14 people including top players from Japan participated in the tournament held in Izu City, Shizuoka Prefecture on the 22nd.

Among them, 48-year-old Sugiura, who has a Japanese record, participated in the motor dysfunction class of the women's 500-meter time trial and the women's 3 km individual pursuit.

Sugiura, who was born in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture, fell down at a bicycle competition three years ago, and had a brain function and a disability in his right body. The Paralympic Games are also expected to win medals.

In the first 500-meter time trial, he showed a stable run from the start with a powerful start and marked a victory of 41.650, which was about 1 second faster than the Japanese record.

The next 3 km individual pursuit was the issue of skipping the first half too much and slowing down the second half, but this time considering the pace distribution, proceeding with the race while maintaining the speed in the second half, He won the championship by marking 4 minutes 8 seconds 696, exceeding the record by 6 seconds.

Sugiura showed a run to set a new record for both of the two events and gained a lot of momentum for next year's Tokyo Paralympics.

Sugiura "Power has come"

Sugiura, who renewed Japan's record in the second event, said with a smile, “I am relieved to be able to do my best, but my coach says it ’s still possible to go.

“I think that the weight training that I started two years ago has been effective. I felt that the power has come to me,” he said.

As for the 3 kilogram individual pursuit, he recalled, “Pace allocation was always difficult, and I was rushing down at the beginning, so I wasn't trying too hard to start today.”

And for the Tokyo Paralympics, he said, “I'm running for the last time rather than next year. I'm thinking of earning points for Japan rather than going to the Paralympics.”
