Russian Daniil Medvedev maintains his successful streak of the second half of the season. The world number four, runner-up of the US Open after losing the final to Rafa Nadal , won the title in St. Petersburg after beating Croatian Borna Coric (15th) by a comfortable 6-3 and 6-1.
It was the fifth consecutive final for the Russian equaling a record within reach of very few. He is the fifth active player to play five consecutive finals (as Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Nadal himself had already done).
With this Sunday, Medvedev has won 23 of his last 26 games, losing only the finals of Washington (against Kyrgios), Montreal (also against Nadal) and the aforementioned US Open. This is his third title of the season after those achieved in Sofia and Cincinnati.
