Since 1981, women in Iran have been prohibited from attending sports arenas during male events.

But during a football game in March, a woman chose to dress up as a man. She was caught, however, and detained for three days.

Pressed by Fifa

Shortly before the trial began earlier this month, she lit a fire on herself, and died.

It has made great headlines around the world and has been condemned in many places, including from the international football federation, Fifa.

- We are in contact with the Iranian Football Federation, they are planning to first and foremost visit the women's qualifying matches that will be played in the future in October. Then, of course, it is a long process of change to get all the matches open for everyone to go on, Fifa's press manager Hans Hultman told SVT Sport last week.

"Get insured"

And now Iran seems to have listened to the protests.

"We have been assured that at Iran's next international match, women will be allowed to enter the football arena," said Fifa's chairman Gianni Infantino, according to several foreign news agencies.

Iran's next international championship is the World Cup qualifier against Cambodia on October 10.
