Vitesse can call itself the leader in the Eredivisie for one day. The team from Arnhem won 4-2 against Fortuna Sittard on Saturday, thanks to three goals in the last ten minutes.
Vitesse fought back twice in the past. Where Fortuna was allowed to rest with a 0-1 hit by Mark Diemers, Tim Matavz made it 1-1 in the 59th minute.
Three minutes after the goal, Martin Angha gave Fortuna the lead for a second time, but again the home team had an answer ready. Bryan Linssen reversed the game with goals in the 81st and 83rd minutes. Matus Bero also made it 4-2 in injury time.
Vitesse, which is at the top with fourteen points from seven games, already knows that it will lose its lead on Sunday. Then the top match between PSV and Ajax is on the program in Eindhoven. Both top clubs have thirteen points and a much better goal balance.
Sparta has no child at RKC
Sparta Rotterdam won the home game against RKC Waalwijk with large numbers. At the Castle, the duel of the PhD students ended Saturday in 4-0.
Sparta, which just like RKC promoted to the Eredivisie via the play-offs last season, took the lead after fifteen minutes of play via Bryan Smeets. Ragnar Ache made it 2-0 at the stroke of half time.
In the second half, the home team simply walked further away. Halil Dervisoglu (48 minute) and Mohamed Rayhi (60 minute) doubled the lead against the powerless Waalwijkers, who are still waiting for the first victory of the season.
Sparta brings the total to eleven points from seven matches and is in the left row. RKC has only one point and a goal difference of at least seventeen.
Biggest Premier League victory in Sparta in ten years
Sparta benefited from weak defending at RKC after fifteen minutes of play when the completely free-standing Smeets could simply hit the mark after an assist from Dervisoglou, who had hit the intersection just before that.
That lead was doubled by Ache, who put his head in the 43th minute against a scoring pass by Abdou Harroui.
The hope of RKC was completely destroyed when Dervisoglou, also with a header, made it 3-0 after three minutes. Mohamed Rayhi took care of the final chord after an hour of play when he beat goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen in the short corner.
For Sparta it is the biggest victory in the Eredivisie since May 2009. Then Ajax also won 4-0, where trainer Marco van Basten submitted his resignation a few days later.
