Toyota Spain is delivering the first units of the Camry Hybrid model, newly manufactured in Japan and 200 units previously requested. It is sold in two variants, Advance and Luxury, at prices of 32,500 and 38,000 euros, respectively, without intermediate packs and with the house discount.

It is a sedan saloon of 4,888 meters in length that aspires to surpass its rivals, halfway to segments D and E (among others, Ford Mondeo, Renault Talisman or Opel Insignia) for its dynamics, its interior habitability, its consumption and emission level of its 'Dynamic Force Engine' 2.5 liters of 178 hp combined with the electric for a total of 218 hp and 221 nm of torque . It mounts a six-speed sequential automatic transmission, reaches up to 180 km / h and is set at 100 km / h from standstill in 8.6 seconds.

The name Camry is known, not in vain we are facing the birth of its eighth generation since 1982 , but Europe has not contributed to its global success. The renovation is observed inside and out , as we have had the opportunity to check on board an Advance version on a route between the center of Madrid and the Cigarral del Ángel, in Toledo, organized by the Spanish section of the Japanese firm.

This is the last 'son' of the TNGA platform , from which the C-HR, the Prius IV and the Corolla Sedan had already emerged, which denotes the versatility of this module manufacturing system. Because if these vehicles had nothing to do with each other, this hybrid Camry is another dimension: a large, imposing-looking car, with a lowered nose that allows the reduction of its frontal surface and achieves an aerodynamic coefficient (CX) of 0.27 . The rear of the car adopts a coupé drawing and houses a trunk with 524 liters of volume.

It can be said that the Camry brings together the characteristics of a classic model and a clearly contemporary character with which, surely, the passage of time will run in its favor. Toyota has put all its effort into advancing in the hybrid engine that already reaches all its main models, but has still accentuated its interest in providing the passenger compartment with a degree of comfort typical of luxury saloons . The driver's position benefits from splendid visibility and a neat and clear dashboard. It is comfortable in all its squares . Those who occupy the rear, as we did at some time during the day, will feel comfortable and relaxed in a space of almost a meter in length (988 mm) that will not condemn the legs to undesirable torsions. The fabric of the seats, the plastics and the leather coverings of the Advance (in the Luyxury the seats are made of leather) are pleasant. The navigation system coupled to this vehicle was not fully satisfactory.

The Advance version includes 18-inch alloy wheels, 8 "multimedia display, LED front fog lights, dual zone climate control, navigator and safety package 'Safety Sense' (Anti-collision system with pedestrian detector, adaptive cruise control, alarm involuntary lane change with path rectification, signal recognition and auto-lighting of road lights).

The Luxury version adds tri-zone climate control, wireless mobile phone charger, reclining rear seats (which prevent folding backrests and limits the capacity of the trunk to 500 liters), display on the windshield, parking sensors, leather upholstery and a JBL sound system With nine speakers.
