In spring, Jerez; in summer, Montmeló and Alcañiz; and in autumn, Cheste. In the last decade Spanish MotoGP fans have been able to enjoy more races than anyone, but that privilege has the days counted. After relying on home circuits to expand the World Cup, the organizing company, Spain's Dorna, plans further internationalization and it forces certain farewells. When the current contracts terminate the four Spanish paths have signed until 2021, they will begin a rotation that will also enter Estoril, in Portugal.

The approach is equanimous: that all circuits receive the World Cup at least three times in five years, from 2022 to 2026. In the calendar three holes will be reserved for Grand Prix in the Iberian Peninsula and the organization must decide when to go to each one. "This has grown a lot and there are manufacturers that demand other countries," said Carmelo Ezpeleta , CEO of Dorna, calling the rotation "irremediable." "What Dorna can offer according to the International Federation is that each circuit organizes three great prizes every five years," said the leader, "and if anyone is not interested, then one less problem because, then, that does not enter rotation".

Now it will be the turn of the circuits to decide if they accept the model or not. In bankruptcy or on the verge of it, with practically annual bailouts, the loss of the MotoGP Grand Prix could be the ultimate thrust for any of them. In the case of Montmeló, for example, it is not yet clear that Formula 1 remains on the track after 2021, so it could run out of the two big events of the year at almost the same time.
