The Dutch baseball-players have booked a simple win over South Africa in the Olympic qualifying tournament (OKT) in Italy on Saturday. The team of national coach Evert-Jan 't Hoen won 7-1 in Bologna.

The Orange led 2-0 in the first inning on singles by Sicnarf Loopstok and Yurendell Decaster. Thanks in part to a homerun Sharlon Schoop, the European champion was already 6-1 in the third inning.

Starting pitcher Donny Breek had a hard time and had to allow one run. He was replaced by Mike Bolsenbroek after two innings. Shurendy Valeriano and Shairon Martis also appeared on the hill. They gave no points away.

'Team Kingdom of the Netherlands' lost to Israel earlier this week and seems to be able to forget a ticket for next year's Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Israel will play against the Czech Republic later on Saturday. In the event of a victory, the Israelis ensure Olympic participation. Orange and Italy can still reach the same level, but with an equal number of points, the mutual result is decisive.

On Sunday, the Netherlands will close the tournament with a game against Italy, which will play against Spain on Saturday. If the formation of 't Hoen does not win the OKT, the team will get one more chance at a qualifying tournament in Taiwan.
