Daniel Ståhl and the rest of the national team are in Rome at a camp for the Athletics World Cup in Doha, Qatar. The world set Ståhl is perhaps the single biggest favorite of all branches after a completely superb season in which he has already won the Diamond League. Mostly in superior style.

During today's training session, the discus thrower showed that the form is intact. He threw at least 72 yards.

"It's as good as any"

- Damn, that's how good it is: Do you see how it flies now? asks trainer Vesteinn Hafsteinsson Ståhl inside the cage who responds in the affirmative after making a small victory gesture, it was a throw that felt throughout his body.

- Now it went out like that, Hafsteinsson continues, waving his hand in a forward motion.

- Great! Yes, that was 70 meters, says Hafsteinsson after only having to measure the throw with a look.

Afterwards, the coach told us it was even longer, somewhere between 72 and 73 meters.

Stole four through the ages

Ståhl's personal record from last summer, stands at 71.86, making him the fourth best pitcher of all time.

Today's throw shows that Ståhl is in the interval he has had this season where throws of 72-73 on training are not uncommon.

An overthrow of the Bauhaus gala at the end of May was measured the day after up to 72.95.

The world record reads at 74.08, set by East German Jürgen Schült in 1986, which is the oldest world record on the men's side.
