Team Anna Hasselborg has in recent years won both Olympic gold and European gold as World Cup silver.

Despite this, it is not certain that there will be those who play the European Championships for Sweden in Helsingborg later this fall.

In the world top

Next week there is a European Championship qualifier between Team Hasselborg and their club mates in Lag Isabella Wranå.

And even though Team Wranå is a real hiding place in Sweden, it is a world-class team. Right now they are in 20th place on the world rankings, but only a few months ago were ranked 13th.

Record heavyweight elite champions

Last season, even though they were still juniors, they took home two races on the world tour. In addition, they have won the junior championship, and a couple of years ago took home the elite series as 17-year-olds - which is the youngest in Swedish curling history.

And now they will be facing their older and more experienced club mates in Lag Hasselborg.

Hope to peel

Next week, a qualifying series will be played in the best of seven matches, where the winners will be allowed to represent Sweden at the European Championships in Helsingborg in November.

Team Hasselborg are obviously big favorites, but in Team Wranå there is good hope of a peal.

- I think it can be even, I really think so. Everything can happen. We have met them a few times lately, and then it has been even and the last stone has been the deciding factor. It will be very exciting, says Almida de Val.
