This season FC Barcelona expects to be the first sports club in the world to generate a turnover of more than 1 billion euros.
Chairman of the board Grascar Grau presented the Barcelona budget for the current season on Thursday. The Catalans expect to achieve a turnover of 1,047 billion euros.
Four years ago, the reigning champion of Spain set himself the target of breaking the 1 billion euro mark by 2021 and is therefore ahead of his own schedule.
Barcelona has crept in recent years to a turnover of 1 billion euros. In the 2017/2018 season, the top club added 914 million euros in revenue. Last season, sales were 990 million euros.
The 'Blaugranas' count this year on spending 1.007 billion euros. Barcelona allocated EUR 255 million this summer for the transfers from Antoine Griezmann, Frenkie de Jong, Neto, Júnior Firpo, Emersen and Marc Cucurella. The sale of Malcom and Jasper Cillessen among others generated more than 156 million euros.
Barcelona is counting on a profit of 11 million euros this year. That would mean that the Catalans will write black numbers for the ninth year in a row.
