“For a year no one remembered who Protasovitsky was”

The Kokorins brothers and Pavel Mamaev have been at large for more than a day, but the fate of their friend and fourth person involved in the sensational case of fights in the center of Moscow, Alexander Protasovitsky, remains unclear.

Since the final verdict of the Moscow City Court, the case of the children's coach began to develop separately from the affairs of his comrades. He was the last to leave the walls of Butyrka, was not transferred to the Belgorod colony, and still has not appeared in court on conditional release.

At the same time, according to Protasovitsky's lawyer Tatyana Prilipko, Alexander, no less than the other defendants, deserves freedom and attention from the press and human rights activists.

In a conversation with RT, the lawyer noted that during the court hearings, journalists in their reports and publications focused only on the fate of the players. She also recalled that a positive response was provided to the court from the place of work of Protasovitsky, and the father of the ex-player Sergey became the only member of the families of the defendants who took the floor at the stage of the debate.

“For a year, no one remembered who Sasha was. Few people were interested in his fate, now there was a flurry of calls and questions from journalists: “What if they do not release him?” Prilipko explained in an interview with RT.

In addition, the lawyer drew attention to the fact that earlier, without explaining the reasons, Protasovitsky was sent to another colony, and therefore completely disappeared from the information field. Unlike the brothers Kokorins and Mamaev, who were transferred to Belogorod, their friend, despite these promises from the penitentiary service, ended up in a Bryansk colony.

"Why is that? Unfortunately, I can not answer this question. The deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service Valery Maksimenko publicly stated that all four would be sent to the same colony. In fact, everything turned out differently. We still didn’t understand why Kokorins and Mamaev left together, and Alexander sat in a pre-trial detention center for another week waiting for a stage to go to another place of serving his sentence, ”the lawyer recalls.

“We will fight for Sasha”

The increased interest in the figure of the children's trainer is due to the fact that, unlike other defendants in the case that have already been released, his request for parole may be rejected due to several comments received in the pre-trial detention center. In particular, according to the documents, Protasovitsky straightened his berth after lifting. At the same time, the defense, the convict himself, as well as representatives of the Public Monitoring Commission (PMC) still call these penalties “dubious”.

This is due to the fact that information about the regime’s violations, which, according to the version of the pre-trial detention center’s employees, Protasovitsky allowed himself while he was still in the Moscow isolation ward, did not arrive in prison 6 of the Bryansk Region only two months after the convict was transferred. And one of them was made at the very moment when Protasovitsky was at the stage.

According to Prilipko, for the entire time her client was in custody, neither the lawyer, nor the children's trainer himself received the aforementioned papers. Moreover, Protasovitsky, like Kokorins and Mamaev, received only a positive response from the FSIN leadership.

“So far, nothing is really clear. He had no penalties. This seems strange to everyone, but there is simply nothing more to add. On the 24th I’ll go to Klintsy for trial, we’ll fight for Sasha. There is simply no reason to keep him in prison further, especially with respect to all the other defendants in the case. Some kind of stupidity. Penalties are as far-fetched as the whole case, ”the lawyer said in an interview with RT.

Wanting to prove Protasovitsky’s innocence and illegality, the lawyer asked the PMC to initiate an audit of the legality of the claims.

According to the executive secretary of the PMC, Ivan Melnikov, the prosecutor’s office has already begun to study the issue, but the details of the verification and the date of publication of the results are still unknown.

“Employees of the department left for the place for my appointment, but there is no other information yet. The results were not passed on to us, ”RT Melnikov said.

At the same time, the human rights activist emphasized that time is playing against Protasovitsky. If the prosecutor’s office doesn’t give an answer in a timely manner, Alexander will most likely remain in jail.

“We really hope that by September 24 the results of the verification will be submitted to the court, otherwise, according to the letter of the law and a number of nuances, it may be deprived of the opportunity to leave the prison by parole,” the social activist explained.

However, the lawyer of the last person involved in the case of the Kokorins and Mamaev is sure that the comments received in the SIZO will not affect the final decision of the court. At the same time, Prilypko explained that if the refusal is still received, the defense will not appeal.

“In principle, penalties are not grounds for refusal of parole. Moreover, they arrived on such a date - two months after Sasha arrived at the place of punishment. But if suddenly now they will refuse to parole, he will sit until the end of the term. According to the law, if the court rejects our appeal, it will be possible to file it next time only after six months. By then, Alexander will already be free, ”Prilipko summed up.

Thus, the release of Protasovitsky may be delayed until early November of this year. He was sentenced to one year and five months for participating in fights.
