Fredrik Glader bid farewell to his father Helmer a week ago. In the end, Helmer lost the fight against cancer, 75 years old. With down to earth the son sent Fredrik, his first gold medal with Luleå / MSSK. It became his way of honoring his father who meant so much.

- Dad loved Luleå hockey. That was his team, Glader tells SVT Sport.

- He was there when we took the SM gold first season, 2015/16. He lived in Gällivare so it was a bit to go. He brought it to the last rest.

Went away in August

Father Helmer passed away on August 4. Fredrik Glader got the call as he sat in the car, on his way to take one last farewell.

- I'd meet him. When I got the call, tears came. It was really hard not to arrive. Hard to talk about now, too, he says.

- But I was up the weekend before and we had a really nice weekend with the kids and I'm glad we got it together.

"A wonderful challenge"

It has been a tumultuous time for Glader. With the father's passing and in the middle of everything a negotiation with Modo for the role of sports manager for the all-Swedish men's team. He had a year left on the contract with Luleå when SVT could reveal the news that shook Luleå - that Glader had plans to leave the Swedish champion. A club that he has become strongly associated with and a great profile in women's hockey.

But when this opportunity came up, he wanted to test his wings. It was time for something new.

- A wonderful challenge. I have worked with sports manager questions on the ladies side. But I'm not alone in my new assignment. I will have competent people around me.

What can you bring from your years in Luleå into your new assignment?

- I learned a lot as a leader. The individuals I worked with are very informative and accurate. I have learned to be very prepared. We work with people and you have to be responsive and adapt to the individual. See man.

What do you think it means for the women's hockey team that you just get such a chance?

- Happy and honored with the mission. This shows that hockey is largely starting to include women's sports. We move boundaries through this.

"Modo for me is SHL"

You come to one of Swedish hockey's most rich associations. Most of the experts had Modo at the top of the Swedish conference at the all-Swedish preliminary meeting. What is the goal for this year?

- Wrong for me to say exact goals but Modo is an association that will return to SHL but I want to get into the association first. But sure, Modo to me is SHL.

How should Luleå / MSSK now manage without you?

- Luleå will work hard and continue to be a club that runs Swedish women's hockey. It is not me who is Luleå hockey. Luleå invests heavily on the ladies from the boardroom.

What are you most proud of in your hockey business in Luleå?

- Most proud to have been on that trip. A change that means so much more than gold medals. To have had to change the culture. Check out how our fans have embraced the ladies team. When I was growing up you barely saw a girl in the arena. Today it is a completely different work on gender equality. I'm proud of that.

The women's hockey drops a profile. Who is going to take the debate now?

- Haha, my heart will continue to clap for women's hockey. But we have an incredibly good league and Swedish players so I am convinced that women's hockey has a bright future.
