Exemption

About 11 months after the scandalous events with the participation of Alexander Kokorin and Pavel Mamaev, the players were released. On September 6, the Alekseyevsky District Court of the Belgorod Region granted the players' request for parole, and after 11 days they left correctional colony No. 4.

Initially, it was expected that Alexander and Pavel would be released in the morning, and later athletes' lawyer Yuri Padalko named more specific dates. According to him, they were supposed to be released around nine in the morning.

“Most likely, they will be released after half past eight - the court needs to draw up documents. Closer to nine come out. Yesterday they did not want to be interviewed, maybe today something will change. If they refuse, then I will speak for them, ”the Championship quotes Padalko.

The lawyer also said that until December the players will be controlled, but refused to answer the question regarding the possible departure of athletes abroad.

“I think they will go home right away. Any normal person who goes free is very happy about this, ”the lawyer added.

However, the day of the release of the players was not without scandals. So, the stepfather of the former Zenit footballer Kirill Loginov, who ran into the foot of one of the journalists, became a defendant in one of them. Subsequently, the police drew up a protocol on traffic violations against him. The representative of the press, in turn, was assisted by doctors.

Padalko was right and already around 9:30 in the morning Kokorin and Mamaev were released. True, both refused to communicate with reporters and immediately proceeded to the car on which they left the colony. In their absence, the lawyer again answered media questions.

“I did my job. Congratulated them on their release - they are going home. Mamayev has a valid contract with Krasnodar, Kokorin just yesterday concluded a new agreement with Zenit. Most likely, before the winter he will return to the field. All other questions to the clubs. They need to act law-abidingly, as they did here. They are normal people, ”Padalko said.

Incident in "Coffeemania" and the beating of Solovchuk

Kokorin and Mamaev were free 345 days after high-profile incidents on the streets of Moscow. In the evening of October 7, 2018, they together arrived in the capital from St. Petersburg, where both participated in the RPL match between Zenit and Krasnodar. In social networks, the players said that they plan to celebrate the “decade of friendship”, and the next day the media began to appear information about the fight in the cafe “Coffeemania”, in which the official of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Pak was injured.

The next day, it became known that Kokorin and Mamaev were also suspected of beating Vitaly Solovchuk, the driver of the leading first channel Olga Ushakova. They, together with Alexander’s younger brother Kirill Kokorin and their common friend Andrei Protasovitsky, became defendants in a criminal case - they were accused of hooliganism, beatings and minor harm to health. On October 10, all suspects were ordered to report to the police for interrogation under the threat of being put on the federal wanted list, and the players complied with the requirements on the same day.

Later, the Tverskoy court arrested Kokorin and Mamaev for two months, sending them to custody in the Butyrka pre-trial detention center. Subsequently, the decision to arrest them was several times extended, and throughout the investigation, the athletes remained behind bars. When the court hearings began, the lawyers of the athletes insisted that the conflicts with Pak, Solovchuk and the director of FSUE NAMI Sergey Gaysin were provoked by the victims of beatings themselves, and also that the investigation made a number of inaccuracies and incorrectly qualified the actions of the accused, and the witnesses interviewed were confused in the testimony.

Nevertheless, when in May the trial in the Kokorin and Mamaev case came to an end, the prosecution demanded for them real terms of imprisonment. The court agreed with almost all the arguments of the prosecutor's office and sentenced the Kokorins to one and a half years in a penal colony, and Mamaev and Protasovitsky to one and five months. All of them appealed to the Moscow City Court, but he left the sentence unchanged.

Kokorin and Mamaev were sent to correctional colony No. 4 of the Belgorod Region, where they were to stay until November and December 2019, respectively, taking into account the time spent in the pre-trial detention center. However, shortly after being transported, the athletes applied for parole, which was granted on September 6th. Ten days later, the decision of the retreat of the Alekseevsky court was to enter into force.

Throughout the entire period of imprisonment, Kokorin and Mamaev had practically no opportunity to maintain high physical fitness and engage in their professional activities. They had rare opportunities to exercise in the gym, and the leadership of Butyrka and IK No 4 organized friendly matches for them with other prisoners. While Kokorin was finishing serving his sentence, he ended the contract with Zenit. Mamayev’s agreement with Krasnodar continues to be valid.
