Rebecca Peterson was in her first WTA final against the 69-ranked Kazakh Elena Rybakina in the Jiangxi Open. Once there, she made the process short with Rybakina and won in two straight sets, 6-2, 6-0 after dunking the foodball after a good hour's play.

78-rated Peterson got a taste start when she managed to break Rybakina's serve directly in the first game and then broke again until 5-2. With the chance to serve home the first set, the Swedish was down by 0-30, but via a serveess, among other things, she managed to reach the set ball she managed via a forehand crusher, up to 6-2.

Dominated in the second set

In the second set, the fifth-seeded Swede came out and completely dominated and grabbed a 4-0 lead. In the game after, Peterson seemed to tremble slightly as Rybakina managed to save four break balls before Peterson managed the fifth, up to 5-0 and a chance to serve the match home. Peterson managed the first match ball as she thumped the serve and was able to raise her arms in the air.

Behind the victory was stable serving from Peterson, where she dropped two balls in total, while also keeping her own mistakes to a minimum.

Genoim victory, she is now the eighth Swedish to win a WTA title in singles after Ingrid Löfdahl Bentzer, Catrin Jexell, Catarina Lindqvist, Cecilia Dahlman, Åsa Svensson, Sofia Arvidsson and Johanna Larsson.
