The boards have also made a declaration of intent to investigate the conditions for such a merger with the goal that each association will make a final decision at extra annual meetings later this year.

- Malmö FF and LB07 complement each other very well, says Malmö FF's chairman Anders Pålsson. This is a merger that would strengthen Malmö FF in many dimensions. We represent the whole of Malmö and aim to be the Nordic region's leading football club, both on the men's and women's side.

- Basically, Malmö FF is an elite association, but in order to continuously get more own elite players, we need a broader base, both on the boy and the girl side, says Anders Pålsson. By joining forces with LB07 we can create significantly better conditions for it.

- During the start of the year we sat down and analyzed the future of LB07, and we saw that the club's activities could in many ways complement Malmö FF's, says LB07 chairman Robert Lenir. We then contacted MFF and then intensive discussions were held. Now we have come up with a proposal that can be submitted to the respective members of the associations.

The aim is to suggest to the members of the associations that Malmö FF from the season 2020 has a men's team and a women's team, as well as youth teams for boys and girls from football school up to and including P19 / F19. In the near future, the associations will have a dialogue with SvFF and Skånes FF in order to create a decision basis based on current regulations regarding other boy teams in the current LB07. The plan is a long-term cooperation agreement between MFF and LB07's men's elite team regarding player exchange.
