Heinzpeter Platter was the coach of the Swedish ladies during part of Pernilla Wiberg's era. In 2015/16 he was back in Sweden, then as a men's coach, and with contracts that stretched over the World Cup in the Åre season 2018/19.
Now Platter is ready as a new coach for China.

- My contract with the alpine national team expired last spring and I did not want to continue working with Sweden. I did not see any success with the national team's plan for the winter 2019-2020, Platter told SVT Sport yesterday.

- I'm a little surprised. His description may not be entirely correct, says alpine manager Tommy Eliasson Winter.

- It is news to me that it went as described. But it's sad if he feels that way. I think there is a disappointment that he did not get extended, and did not continue. I have respect for that. It's always sad when you end a relationship.

"He Who Was The Lead"

Ahead of the World Cup Final weekend in Aspen 2017, the then Swedish men's manager Heinz-Peter Platter drew great criticism of the entire alpine-Sweden, after only one podium place throughout the season, before the closing men's slalom and team competition.

"If you want to win at the highest level you have to burn for the sport," Platter told SVT Sport.

Eliasson Winter strikes back:

- It was he who was the manager, so he just had to change it, it was included in his job description.

Ahead of the season at the World Cup in Åre 2019, and the season after André Myhrer on the men's side took Olympic gold for Sweden, the message came that the ski association made changes in the leadership team for the alpine men's national team. Heinz-Peter Platter went from manager to coach while Fredrik Kingstad stepped in as new manager.
A change that SVT's alpine expert Tobias Hellman was critical of.

"I'm pretty surprised to be hiring a rookie as a new manager," Hellman said.

The reorganization that was done on the men's side sees Eliasson Winter as positive.

- In general, it worked very well. I thought Heinzpeter was very professional when he took on the new education with Fredrik.
We made a special solution where Heinzpeter was the leader of the World Cup team. Then you could see at the end that there was some concern. That is where this is going, he says.

- This is not an eternity work. When you are inside and work as a union captain, or a master or women's manager, you are in a period and make great sacrifices, life struggles to achieve results.

"A new time is coming"

Platter's new assignment is to train Chinese alpine talents against the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. The contract extends through the 2022 Olympics.

- Sometimes you need a new voice in the room. We have a new generation coming, coming from a different direction. We felt that we wanted Fredrik (Kingstad) who has grown up with these young guys who are on the way now, says Eliasson Winter.

- It is not always about criticism about how it was done. A new time is coming simply. Then there are always problems when you end a relationship, and everyone should be happy then.

The leadership on the men's side in the alpine national team today consists of the head manager Fredrik Kingstad. Ola Masdal is a new men's coach linked to André Myhrer,
he worked with the European Cup team last year. Matts Olsson has Edda-Kristin Arnadottir and Walter Girardi. The European Cup team has the same coach crew as last season.
