New job: Björndalen takes over China's national team
The world's best biathlete of all time, Ole Einar Björndalen, 45, has taken over China's national team until the Winter Olympics in Beijing 2022. - We are pleased to announce that we will cooperate with China's biathlon team, says the legend.
He posted the news on his Instagram along with a picture of himself and wife Darja Domratjeva where they stand in front of the Chinese squad. Björndalen ended his career last year without reaching the Olympics in Pyeongchang. He finished with eight Olympic golds.
Björndalen is the head coach for both the men's and women's team, while Mrs. Darja Domratjeva will only train the ladies.
- It is a young team with high ambitions and great development potential, says Björndalen who will work with the team on a daily basis.
The couple has already been to China several times and the latest collection was in Norway.
- We are very excited to have the opportunity to help our favorite sports spread around the world, says Domratjeva.
When Björndalen was not selected for the Olympics in Pyeongchang, he still showed up in South Korea, then as coach to his wife, Darja Domratjeva, who stayed for four Olympic golds in his career.
