Edwin van der Sar excludes that he will make the switch from Ajax to Manchester United in the short term. The general manager has been linked by British media in recent weeks with a return to Old Trafford.
"I'm having a good time in Amsterdam and am looking forward to bringing Ajax back to the European top," said Van der Sar on Wednesday after the farewell match of Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany in Manchester.
"We already approached that level last season and it is now important that we stay there."
According to various British tabloids, Van der Sar was approached to work at United as director of football. 'The Red Devils' is one of the few Premier League clubs to have no technical director.
Manchester United has not been able to compete with clubs such as Manchester City and Chelsea in recent years. The last national title was captured in the 2012/2013 season.
Former goalkeeper Van der Sar was under the bar at Manchester United from 2005 to 2011. At the end of 2012 he was appointed as marketing director at Ajax. He has been working as general director in Amsterdam since 2016.
