Yacht race that makes one round of the Southern Hemisphere.

Japanese marine adventurer Kojiro Shiraishi will once again challenge the “ultimate yacht race” that goes around the southern hemisphere alone once every four years, and the latest yacht was shown.

This race, called the “Vendée Grove”, takes place once every four years and takes one yacht from the port town in western France, making a round of more than 40,000 kilometers in the southern hemisphere. It is called the “ultimate yacht race” because it does not stop at the port for about 3 months and is not replenished.

Mr. Shiraishi was the first Japanese to challenge this race three years ago, but the mast broke along the way and abandoned and built a state-of-the-art yacht to challenge again next year.

On the 11th, at the port of Lorient in western France, Mr. Shiraishi held a launching ceremony for the completed yacht with his supporters, and prayed for the safety of the voyage by dividing champagne by the hull in the French style.

Yachts are about 18 meters long, and not only the hull but also sails called sails use carbon fiber to reduce weight. In addition, the side of the hull is equipped with hydrofoil, and if the speed increases, the yacht will rise to the sea surface and reduce the resistance of the waves, so it will travel at a maximum speed of 65 km / h.

Mr. Shiraishi is enthusiastic about maneuvering from now on because he can make the best boat. He wants to do his best to win the race.
