- I really love this competition, so I look forward to Friday, says Caroline Hedwall to SVT Sport after a training lap at The Centennial Course at Gleneagles.

The Solheim Cup is almost synonymous with Swedish success. It has swarmed by Swedish stars who both played the cup at home and been captain of the European team. The last victory for Europe came in the US in 2013 - when it was first won on American soil - and with both a Swedish captain and a player who became a hero. Caroline Hedwall became historic - won all five matches - and set the decisive put.

- It was an amazing week that I still dream about, Hedwall acknowledges for SVT Sport.

Does it help you this week?

- Yes, it's clear that I remember and I know that Jah can perform under pressure and cope with that kind of situation, so it helps, says Hedwall.

Hedwall makes its fourth Solheim Cup and always stands out when it comes to the issue of match play. She has something in common with Sweden's double major winner Anna Nordqvist. She was the only player to go undefeated from the match against the United States two years ago.

- I have very good memories from Des Moines (playing field for Solheim Cup 2017) and I look forward to seeing how many matches I will get to play and if I get the chance I will give my best, says Nordqvist.

Nordqvist suffers from the sugars from the glandular fever

But after that fall with the Solheim cup and the victory in the Evian Championship, Nordqvist has had a hard time. She still works with the glands of the glandular fever she suffered in 2017.

- On and off I probably did not measure very well. Being physically in top shape has been difficult because I have to use all the energy to exercise, it has been difficult to stay focused. Mentally, I get very tired and I probably pushed myself a little too hard last year and got exhausted by it, Nordqvist explains.

Ask Söderling for advice

Anna has consulted Sweden's best tennis player in the 2000s, Robin Söderling, who had to end his career due to glandular fever. But it is difficult to know what to do to overcome energy loss and fatigue.

- It feels like not many people have so much knowledge. Then anyone who has it is just to hear from them, laughs Nordqvist and asks the viewers for all the help she can get.

But Anna occasionally performs at her old level.

- I have worked well and have my swing coach who has helped me to find stability in my game. It has been a journey and hopefully it can go a little easier from now on, says Nordqvist with some hope in his voice.

Hedwall: "Sickly tagged"

But energy this week, it seems both Nordqvist and Hedwall have plenty. This may be needed in the match against the United States, which comes with a much better team on the paper in terms of ranking.

- It feels good, the form is on the rise and I'm sick of being tagged, says Hedwall, who really loves the Solheim Cup.

- This is really my favorite competition and I very much look forward to it starting on Friday, says Hedwall with a smile.
