Yemen has given Saudi Arabia an early warning to start their Asian qualifying campaign for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where they drew 2-2 in the second round of Group D matches in the second qualifying round.

The match was held today in the Bahraini capital Manama because of the situation in Yemen. Yemen scored twice with Mohsen Qarawi and Omar Dahi scoring twice in the eighth and 37th minute and Saudi Arabia tied twice with Hattan Sultan Bahabri and Salem Al Dossari in the 23rd and 48th minute.

Despite the difference in capabilities and experience, the Saudi team failed to win to lose two precious points in the beginning of his qualifying campaign under the leadership of new French coach Herve Renard, who led the team a few days ago to draw 1-1 with Mali friendly.

The Yemeni team got a valuable point against Saudi Arabia to raise its tally to two points in third place in the group, one point behind his Palestinian counterpart, who lost 2-1 to Singapore earlier, today, singling out Singapore to lead the group with four points.

Qatar had to settle for a goalless draw at home to the Indian team, and overpowered a win that would have boosted their lead in Group D.

Qatar moved to four points from two games in the first place, one point behind Oman, who played one game.

In Group B, Australia swept Kuwait 3-0 at home, with all goals coming in the first half, with Matthew Leakey leading 2-0 in the seventh and 30th minutes, and Aaron Moe securing the third goal in the 38th minute.

Australia made their first qualifying match to earn their first three points, finishing second on goal difference from first-placed Kuwait.

The UAE began their qualifying campaign by beating Malaysia 2-1 to finish second on goal difference from third-placed Malaysia.

Bahrain narrowly defeated hosts Cambodia 1-0 to take their tally to 4 points at the top of Group C.
