Mike Teunissen finished third in the mass sprint on Sunday in the second stage of the Tour of Great Britain. The Jumbo-Visma rider had to leave the stage victory to Italian Matteo Trentin.
Trentin, who referred the Belgian Jasper De Buyst to second place, takes over the leader's jersey from Dylan Groenewegen. The winner of the opening stage had to let go of the pack in the final phase and crossed the line in a chasing group.
Mathieu van der Poel was also not involved. The rider from Corendon-Circus, who is preparing for the World Cup in Yorkshire at the end of this month in Great Britain, finished seventeenth.
The Tour of Great Britain lasts until Saturday next week. Last year the overall victory went to the Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe.
