Jill Roord has graced her official debut for Arsenal on Sunday with a goal in the 2-1 competition match against West Ham United. The international of the Oranjevrouwen made the second goal for 'The Gunners'.

The 22-year-old Roord, who made the switch from Bayern Munich to Arsenal this summer, came to score at Meadow Park four minutes before the break. The midfielder received the ball on a silver platter after preparatory work by Bethany Mead and simply shot inside.

After fifteen minutes, Mead opened the score for Arsenal with a nice long shot. Martha Thomas brought the tension back after an hour of play with the connection goal for West Ham, but the home team then no longer relinquished the three points.

Roord played the entire game and received a yellow card deep in injury time. Daniëlle van de Donk (Arsenal) and Tessel Middag (West Ham) also completed the ninety minutes.

The match between Arsenal and West Ham was one of the six matches in the first round of the Women's Super League. On Saturday, Jackie Groenen made her official debut for Manchester United, which lost 1-0 to the Manchester City derby.
