Malmö FF had a lot to enjoy this afternoon.

1. They won with a total of 5-0 against Kalmar.

2. The victory gave them several important plus goals in the goal difference, which can have great significance in the final stage of the Allsvenskan as the top match is extremely even.

3. They broke their punishment curse. After six straight misses in Allsvenskan, they finally managed to score from eleven meters. It happened in the 51st minute after a hand, and even though Markus Rosenberg (who missed two penalties earlier in the season) slipped into the moment of shooting, the ball went in goal - even though the goalkeeper went in the right direction and was close to taking the shot.

4. Jo Inge Berget broke his target drought. The Norwegian left 5-0 with a quarter remaining, after a fine MFF attack. It was his first Swedish goal in 2019.

5. Serial leader Djurgården looks to lose the series final against Djurgården. In the final minutes, AIK leads by 1-0. Thus MFF is now third, with only three points up to Djurgården.

MFF by far

The match in Kalmar then? Not much to write about. MFF was absolutely superior, and after Romario already got nine minutes (when Malmö already led by 1-0) got red shortly after an ugly tackle with the doubles ahead of Erik Larsson, it was more or less good night for the home team.

During pretty much the whole game, it was game against a goal, and 5-0 was almost at the bottom.

For Kalmar, there is not so much to enjoy. They now have 0–9 in goal difference on their last two games (0–4 against IFK Gothenburg last), and only have two points down to Falkenberg in qualifying.

- We must break down and come again, says Viktor Elm.
