Frenchman Vincent Luis won the World Triathlon Series (WTS) on Saturday (August 31st) in Lausanne, Switzerland. He is the first Frenchman to win the title of world champion since 2000.

At the age of 30, Vincent Luis won his first triathlon world title on Saturday (August 31st) in Lausanne (Switzerland), one year after the Olympic Games, a first for a Frenchman since Olivier Marceau in 2000.

Luis took fifth place in the Lausanne Grand Final, enough to win the world title for the entire season between March and September. He succeeds his training buddy, Spaniard Mario Mola, winner of the World Triathlon Series (WTS) in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Multiple exploits before the world championships

The coronation of Lausanne rewards an exceptional season for Vincent Luis, the most regular since he is engaged in the series of reference. He won in Yokohama (Japan) in mid-May on the Olympic distance, and took second place in Hamburg (Germany) sprint distance in July.
