The accident occurred in the second round of the race. Three pilots took part in the incident. The first to lose control was Giuliano Alesi from Trident, then Hubert, who crashed into a barrier, as a result of which his car was thrown onto the track, and Juan Manuel Correa from Charouz Racing System crashed into it at high speed.
As a result of the accident, two parts of Hubert's car were torn apart. The 22-year-old Frenchman was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries.
It is noted that Correa is also in the hospital under the supervision of doctors. his condition is assessed as stable.
Hubert was the reigning GP3 Series champion and pilot of the Renault youth program. This season of Formula 2, he won two races - in Monaco and Le Castella.
It was previously reported that the Formula 2 race was interrupted due to an accident and will not be resumed.
