Several drivers were involved in a high-speed crash in the fast curve Raidillon during the second lap of the race.
Juan Manuel Correa and Anthoine Hubert crashed violently into the barrier. Marino Sato was also involved but he could walk off the track for his own machine. The race was interrupted just before 17.30 and was not restarted. Of the cars, nothing but scrap remained.
Rescuers arrived quickly and Hubert flew to a nearby emergency hospital, but just over an hour and a half later came the terrible news: Anthoine Hubert was killed in connection with the accident, FIA writes on its website.
