"I could not see on the line that I had won, because I had my eyes closed", is the first reaction of stage winner Fabio Jakobsen. "I threw my bike forward and hoped for the best. The realization that I won only came when my teammates came to congratulate me. This is a big win, and then again in the Dutch champion jersey. I am proud that I 22-year-old already have a ride in a big lap on my record. "

The 22-year-old Jakobsen takes his first stage win in a big lap. Bennett can comfort himself with the fact that he takes over the points jersey from Quintana.

It saves almost nothing, but Dutch champion Jakobsen has a minimal lead over Bennett and wins the fourth stage in this Vuelta.

Fabio Jakobsen wins the fourth stage! The Dutchman beat Sam Bennett with a millimeter difference.

Finish - Fabio Jakobsen wins? It cannot be seen with the naked eye. Sam Bennett came along very hard, waiting for the photo finish.

Another 500 meters - All top sprinters are in the front, it will be a real mass sprint.
Still 1 km - Cavagna is grabbed, we still get a mass sprint.
2 km to go - The peloton is now approaching fast, the Cavagna trick seems to be failing.
Another 3 km - Cavagna makes a big hole. The Frenchman is an accredited hard rider, who can put down good time trials. The sprinters are going to have a hard time.
Another 5 km - EF Education puts it aside in the final. For now, the most important leaders and sprinters don't seem to be surprised. For Cavagna it is not going fast enough, the rider of Quick-Step just runs away. Striking, because with Fabio Jakobsen the team still has a decent contender in the mass sprint.

Another 31 km - Cubero has to let Wallays go through a combination of fatigue and mechanical breakdown, the Belgian is going to try to fool the peloton on his own. Since his lead has diminished to less than a minute, that seems a hopeless mission.

Another 44 km - Wallays is the first to reach the Puerto del Oronet, shortly followed by escape buddy Cubero. More than a minute and a half behind the two, Madrazo mountain jersey carrier also gets a point.

Another 47 km - The riders suddenly get a downpour. Is this a welcome cooling, or is one getting nervous now because of the wet road surface? The chase is put at a low level in any case, so that the lead of the front runners again goes towards the two minutes.

Jumbo-Visma confirms once again that Steven Kruijswijk has left the Vuelta. The shadow header has too much trouble with his knee after the fall in the team time trial.
🇪🇸 # LaVuelta19 @s_kruijswijk has abandoned the Vuelta. He's suffering a sore knee due to the TTT crash and the pain has gotten worse.

According to his team Jumbo-Visma, Steven Kruijswijk has too much trouble with his knee to continue. "The pain only got worse," said a team spokesperson. The number three of the Tour went down in the team time trial together with some teammates, after suddenly a lot of water had flowed onto the road. Cause turned out to be a leaky swimming pool.

There is confirmation from the organization. The fall in the team time trial during the first stage apparently did not handle Kruijswijk well. De Brabander started with Jumbo-Visma as shadow leader on the Vuelta, but lost almost two minutes in the first hill stage on Sunday. Primoz Roglic has to do less with a strong servant in the remainder of the round.

130 km to go - BORA's work at the front is starting to pay off. Wallays and Cubero see their lead shrink to 5.35.
Still 137 km - The difference between the front runners and the peloton is seven minutes. Signal for BORA-hansgrohe, the team of sprinter Sam Bennett, to assist Team Sunweb in the lead of the big group.
Still 151 km - The difference goes towards the six minutes. Team Sunweb, from red jersey carrier Roche, has now nestled at the head of the peloton, but that has not yet led to a speed acceleration in the peloton.

162 km to go - The two in front now have more than four minutes ahead of the pack. They are not dangerous for the classification. Wallays is just under eight minutes away, while Cubero has already taken it more than sixteen minutes longer than red jersey carrier Roche.

The Vuelta has been an Irish party so far. Nicolas Roche is wearing the red leader's jersey for the second day in a row today, while Sam Bennett was the fastest in the mass sprint yesterday. He is also today one of the favorites. "It is very special that we were both on stage yesterday. I think it is a big thing for Irish cycling," said Roche. "I am very happy for Sam, and also for the Irish cycling."

In about four hours the riders in the Vuelta will be riding the bike for stage four. Given the flat arrival, the chance of a mass sprint is high. The Dutch champion Fabio Jakobsen is one of the candidates for day success.
Stage 4: Cullera - El Puig (175.5 km) The Puerto del Oronet is the only classified climb along the way today, which means it could be another opportunity for the sprinters.🚩Official start at 13h19 # LaVuelta19 #ForBjorg
