Johan Elmander became Bolton's most expensive acquisition ever in the summer of 2008. A lot has happened since the Swedish striker switched Toulouse to the north west Manchester area for just over eight million pounds and a Norwegian. 2012, a year after Elmander left the club, the big race started.

The club was downgraded to the Championship after a weak season and started the next season even worse. They moved up and had the chance to play their way back to the finals in a play off but couldn't manage Leicester. Since then, they have not been close to returning.

In 2015, the financial problems began to accumulate in earnest. Debt mountain of just over £ 173 million was temporarily swept off the carpet when Dean Holdsworth bought the club. A year later, he was bought out by Ken Anderson. A well-known fiddler who was suspended from practicing business earlier after running several companies at the bottom.

Unsurprisingly, Anderson has not succeeded in turning the ship around and the crisis became so infected this spring that the player squad was striking for missing wages.

The company Football Ventures has been expected to take over the club but it has dragged on over time. Now the league has given the ultimatum. If a takeover does not happen before 17 o'clock local time, they are thrown out of the league system.
