It was on Saturday evening that the Swedish Ski Federation sent out a press release that Jonas Peterson quits as national team manager - after less than five months on the post.

"We have had different views on how to develop the business," Ola Strömberg, associate director and acting longitudinal manager, told SVT.

Conflict with the herd team

Strömberg did not want to go into detail about what the brawl was about. But according to sources at TT, the problem began last spring when outgoing long-time manager Johan Sares handed over the evaluation for last season to Jonas Peterson.

According to TT's sources, this evaluation states that the Swedish riders did not have an optimal ramp during the season and that the ramp organization should be reorganized.

When Jonas Peterson then started working on changes within the voting organization, the election manager Urban Nilsson decided to quit after eight years. This led to a conflict between Peterson and the rest of the electoral team.

- Work on solving this issue has been going on all summer. Ola Strömberg is said to have worked hard to find a solution and that the parties would agree and work together towards the same goal. But the situation became too infected and eventually it was Jonas Peterson who had to leave, says a source.

Got fired

Jonas Peterson confirms that the situation with the ramparts led to him being fired.

- Yes, that's a big part of this. So much I can say. There is always an improvement work to look at in several areas. Elevation work has been a major part of this development work, he says.

- There have been various details of how we should take the work forward and in what direction. Then I do not want to comment on this in detail.

Following this weekend's dramatic announcement, several national team skaters have contacted Jonas Peterson.

- Some have contacted me and said that it is sad that I cannot continue my role. It's wonderful to feel it.

Ola Strömberg does not want to comment on the reason why Jonas Peterson had to quit:

- I do not want to hang people left and right. Therefore, I do not want to comment on this or go into any details. This has to be between us and Jonas about why we should go different ways.

"Not very involved"

TT: How do you react when a rider supports Jonas Peterson?

- I don't know what kind of support he has. I have talked to Viktor (Thorn) and some other riders and they are not very involved in these types of questions and should not be either. They should not spend time and energy on which managers should be in different positions.

Anders Niemi, who has become a new herd manager in the national team, also does not want to comment on summer tours.

- Because I have been disconnected from national team work throughout the summer and did not come into this until last week. Then the national team had a kick off. We got information from Ola Strömberg and then we started planning for the upcoming season. It will be a season when we will have closer contact with the riders after each competition.
