Vincent Janssen made his first goal in fifteen months in the night from Friday to Saturday. The Dutch striker on behalf of his Mexican club Monterrey produced the only goal in the 2-1 loss against Santos Laguna.
Janssen came to the field fifteen minutes before his debut for his Mexican employer last week. On Friday against Santos Laguna he was again not kicking off, but he proved his worth as a substitute.
The seventeen-time international came in the 63rd minute, trailing 2-0, and twenty minutes later made the connecting goal by firing in from the rebound from close range. It turned out not to be enough to prevent a defeat.
The 25-year-old Janssen has been waiting since May last year for a goal at the highest level. Then he had a share in Fenerbahçe's 7-0 win over Karabükspor.
Last month, Monterrey took over the striker from Tottenham Hotspur. At the Premier League club the former player of AZ and Almere City could not live up to expectations. In 31 league games, he only scored twice for the Londoners, who rented him to Fenerbahçe for half a year in the 2017/2018 season.
