• Last race: Marc Márquez's weak point

There was a moment when it seemed that three cyclists had appeared in the Silverstone circuit who, after 200 kilometers escaped in the Giro, the Tour or the Vuelta, calculated who launched the sprint towards victory. Marc Márquez, Valentino Rossi and Jack Miller , all three in the middle of the track waiting. If the MotoGP leader decided to accelerate, the other two would benefit for sure, but this one was not for the work: on his first lap he had scored the second fastest time after Fabio Quartararo and, this time, unlike in Brno, he rejected boasting. For almost a minute there was tension in the group. Until, with the stopwatch in the cogote, near running out of time, Rossi launched himself and the rest went behind.

It was a beautiful exercise. Three pilots in good tune with the layout, among the four fastest in training - together with Quartararo -, launched as a soul that leads the devil to a very precious pole: for Rossi it would have been the first of the year, for Miller the second of their life.

In the end, yes, the result was as expected: Márquez achieved his fourth consecutive pole, number 60 of his 120 MotoGP races, Rossi placed behind and Miller, in third place. The dominator of the World Cup followed his own, but at least there was some emotion. "With the first tire I found a clear track and I had a good time, but with the second I found traffic and decided to wait. It was the one that had less to lose: I was in front of them and I knew that someone had to throw because if they would not be far behind on the grid. In the end the strategy also counts. I am happy because in this circuit I suffered a lot last year [the race was finally canceled by the rain] and in this it seems that I am ready to fight for the victory " , commented a Marquez already accustomed to success.

His only rival for the championship, Andrea Dovizioso , will be seventh while in the second row will be Quartararo, Álex Rins and Maverick Viñales .

The negative part for Honda came again from Jorge Lorenzo who not only stayed out of Q2, he was also fighting not to leave from the last place on the grid. In the end he managed to beat a pilot, Karel Abraham , and he will be twenty-first, but the simple fact of scoring will already be complicated.
