Marianne Vos won the second stage for women on Friday in the Tour of Norway. De Brabantse crossed the finish line solo and was just out of the grip of the upcoming peloton.
The 32-year-old Fox attacked at about 6 kilometers from the finish line on the last climb from the front group and kept the sprinting peloton just behind him on the last straight in Aksim.
The British Alice Barnes won the sprint from the peloton and thus finished second. The Italian Marta Bastianelli crossed the finish line third and Lorena Wiebes, who won the opening stage in Norway on Thursday, was seventh.
Vos, who on Thursday had to settle for fifth place, took over the lead in the general classification from Wiebes thanks to her stage victory.
Vos won all stages in Norway last year
Last year Vos won all stages and the final classification in the Tour of Norway, which then counted three stages. A year earlier, the triple world champion on the road also won the overall victory.
The Tour of Norway has four stages this year and is part of the WorldTour for women.
