On the last day of his professional career, Fernando Torres wanted to say goodbye to football fans with an emotional letter that was distributed at the stadium of Sagan Tosu, his last team. The Madrid player said goodbye with a loss against Vissel Kobe of Iniesta and Villa (1-6).

"Letter to fans around the world.
When I was 5 years old I started playing football with my brother. 30 years later I will play my last game as a professional. Today I look back and I can hardly believe everything I've lived. I feel very fortunate to have been able to get the most important trophies in the world and to have played for some of the most prestigious clubs. Also of the successes with the Spanish team. I have experienced feelings of great emotion and happiness. I wanted to thank football for making me so happy. But I don't want to forget the most authentic part of football, the one that makes this sport so wonderful, the fans.
Thanks to each and every one of the fans of the teams in which I played for loving, cheering and respecting me. Also to rival fans because you made me a better player.
I hope it made you enjoy my football and inspired you in some way. Never stop chasing your dreams. It has really been a pleasure. Thank you soccer, thanks hobby. "
