Johanna Larsson had no problems defeating Japanese Nao Hibino, ranked 144th in the world, in the second qualifying round of the US Open. The Swede won in straight sets with the numbers 7-5, 7-6.

Now only Belgian Kirsten Flipkens, ranked 109th in the world, stands in the way of Larsson entering the main tournament at Flushing Meadows in Queens, New York.

Just Flipkens is a well-known face to the Swede. The duo have played several WTA tournaments in double together and as late as June they won in Mallorca together. In the grand slam tournament French Open they went to the semi-finals.

Flipkens have defeated Jovana Jaksic and Romanian Irina Maria Bara on their way to the qualifying final. The match will be played tomorrow, Friday, 17.00.

Today, the first round of the main tournament was also drawn. For Rebecca Peterson, the lottery fell to Monica Puig of Puerto Rico, ranked 44th in the world.
