Jeffrey Herlings will make his comeback in the MXGP this weekend in Sweden. The 2018 world champion hardly got into action this year due to serious injuries.

"There we go again," says Herlings on Thursday in a message from his KTM team. "I have been driving for a few weeks now and feel ready to race in Uddevalla."

On Tuesday it was already announced that Herlings will participate in the Motocross of Nations at the end of September, the closing of the season in Assen. The 24-year-old from Brabant got a serious injury in the preparation of the year.

When he returned to Latvia in mid-June, he broke his ankle during a warm-up round. Despite that injury, he managed to win the first moto.

Herlings wants to get a good feeling in Sweden

"For me, 2019 is all about the Motocross of Nations in Assen. My return to Sweden is a step on the way there", says Herlings

"I'm going to start this weekend without a goal, except to reach the finish and regain the good feeling on the bike."

Last weekend the MXGP race in Italy was won by the Dutchman Glenn Coldenhoff. There are three race weekends this year, after Sweden they are the crosses in Turkey and China.
