High expectations but missing results. So the season for Djurgården's ladies can be summed up so far. When yesterday's team lost to all-Swedish newcomer Kif Örebro by 4-1, it was the sixth straight game with zero points in the statistics.

A negative trend that should give coach Joel Riddez some headaches. Not least when the team recruited heavily for this year's Swedish battalion, two national team players in the form of Olivia Schough and Hanna Folkesson.

- We make a long-term investment in the ladies and girls business in the club and have added more resources for each year. Then, of course, it is a failure with weaker sporting results, ”says Djurgården IF's chairman Lars-Erik Sjöberg to SVT Sport.

"Not just a trainer's fault"

Last year Djurgården was only two points from relegation. But the new acquisitions have created greater pressure to deliver. The players themselves have expressed the feeling that the team currently lacks harmony and confidence.

And as the football world works, the question of the weakness has led management to consider a coach change. But that is not a move that is current at the moment, according to Lars-Erik Sjöberg.

- I have confidence in Joel. It's not just a trainer's fault. Management, board and players also have a responsibility.

But if the negative trend continues?

- Clearly we see that it is not working right now on the women's side. Right now we have complete confidence in Joel. Then it can change, that's the reality and I think Joel knows that too. But the main focus right now is to support the coach and see how we can win matches.

In an interview with the Football Channel, Joel Riddez says he feels support from the management and has daily contact with his managers about the situation.

- As long as I'm a coach, I'm 100% there, but I know how this industry works. But I drive until I hear something else, he says to the site.
